Be Generous

In times of Economic and Emotional Uncertainty and Transition

We are living in an amazing time right now. I know it sounds strange to hear someone characterize what we are going through as amazing but that is how I see it. We are living in historic times. Years from now we will be telling our children and grandchildren stories about this time. What will your stories look like?

We want to live lives sold out to God

I hope that the stories that my children and I will tell will be tales filled with examples where God power exploded. I want to tell them about how God stopped me in my tracks when I was footsteps away from disaster. I want to recall how when I didn’t listen and fell that God was there to pick me up. But most of all I want to tell them that I saw a nation that had grown lukewarm began to blaze again. In order to do that we have some things we need to overcome.

Fear makes us cling to what we can control

One of the things that is slowing us down right now is uncertainty. I hate to use a 4 letter word from the pulpit but that is much fear in us right now. The devil is running this play into the ground but we are not picking up on it. Our conversations are filled with the what if’s, the how will I’s, and the Oh No’s. You are feeding what you choose to dwell on because there is power in your words. Do you know why? I’m glad you asked.

God Created Us In His Image Gen 1:27 so Don't Forget Deut 4

In Genesis Chapter 1 and ver 27 it details how we were created.

"Let us make human beings in our image, make them reflecting our nature…”

Genesis Chapter 1 shows us how God created. He created with His Words. “Let there be Light.” This creative power is in you as well and you need to recapture that power. In order to do that, however, we have to get away from this me me me mentality that has gripped us and the best way to do that is to not forget what God has done.

Just make sure you stay alert. Keep close watch over yourselves. Don't forget anything of what you've seen. Don't let your heart wander off. Stay vigilant as long as you live. Teach what you've seen and heard to your children and grandchildren. – Deut 4:9

Become an Enthusiastic Giver

Once we remind ourselves of what God has done and is still capable of doing then we need to focus our energies on service to others. In essence we need to follow God’s example. We need to give and give generously.
