Welcome to Day 6: Flashlight or Laserbeam
I know that I will get a bunch of email for using this picture. A picture is worth a thousand words and this one is no different. What is the difference between a flashlight and a laser? The difference is the key to finding success in your 30 Day Trial. This is one of the most important lessons to learn in the achievement of any great goal. The answer is FOCUS.
We live in a high speed multitasking time. It is not unusual to be juggling multiple tasks and responsibilities. We change roles so often that we never have the time to master any of them. This keeps us watered down, diluted, so that our power is never really brought to bear. Just like that flashlight. A Flashlight is good for lighting up a darkened room but it will never be able to change the landscape like a laser. Conversely a laser cannot do what a flashlight can. Jesus was a laser beam. He was always about the His Father's business. One of my favorite stories is this story of the young Jesus.
Every year Jesus' parents traveled to Jerusalem for the Feast of Passover. When he was twelve years old, they went up as they always did for the Feast. When it was over and they left for home, the child Jesus stayed behind in Jerusalem, but his parents didn't know it. Thinking he was somewhere in the company of pilgrims, they journeyed for a whole day and then began looking for him among relatives and neighbors. When they didn't find him, they went back to Jerusalem looking for him.
The next day they found him in the Temple seated among the teachers, listening to them and asking questions. The teachers were all quite taken with him, impressed with the sharpness of his answers. But his parents were not impressed; they were upset and hurt.
His mother said, "Young man, why have you done this to us? Your father and I have been half out of our minds looking for you."
He said, "Why were you looking for me? Didn't you know that I had to be here, dealing with the things of my Father?" But they had no idea what he was talking about. - Luke 2:41-50 (Message)Are you focusing your time each day on what is most important?
