Welcome to Day 12 - Facing the Shadow
The caption reads, "Yea though I walk through the valley of the Shadow of Death I will fear no evil Psalms 23:4" I LOVE the 23rd Psalm. My grandmother had me repeating that thing over and over again when I was a child. For me I just loved her praise when I could recite it on command. I didn't understand what any of it meant and I don't remember anyone trying to explain it to me either. It was just important that I know the words. Today I want to talk about walking through the valley. This feel in line with my tasks for today. Here they are
breed confidence
If you take a look at the passage it tells us that even though we walk through the valley of the shadow of death there is nothing to fear. I want you to think about a shadow. It is late now and with the lights off you can see the shadows everywhere. When I was a kid I remember not wanting to sleep in the dark because of the way the shadows played in my room. I thought there were monsters that would get me. It didn't help that my cousins would watch scary movies and tease me for being scared. As I grew up, however IO learned that shadows have no substance of their own and I do not need to fear them. This created confidence in me to stand in the face of my fears. We all need to stand up to our fears and walk boldly through. They are almost never as bad as we imagine them to be and fears faced fade fast. During this build out I have been facing my fear of heights by climbing ladders. I still get that chill when I go up to the highest point.
be humble
Today members of our church gave testimonies about what God has done during our time in our old building. My Pastor asked me to share mine as well. Of course I wanted to jump at the chance to address the congregation but I felt that it was good to let someone who doesn't get the opportunity to do that share. I don't know if that fits the humble point but I am taking my point for that one. ;)
slow down
I don't know if I met this one today. I was running at full steam for most of the day but right after church I came home with my daughters for our Sunday quiet time. Normally this results in them napping while I am getting a bunch of stuff done. Today however I zonked out on the couch and didn't get up until much later. It was very refreshing and helped me to focus on the ceilings while I was pulling wire out.
